Data Scientist

 

We’re looking for someone with a deep interest in data and analytics, the desire to be at the forefront of that world, and the drive to bring its best practices to bear on problems in market research.  This is a person/team member with deep knowledge of the available, the possible, and the potential in data analytics. We need someone that possesses the technical ability and the communication skills to implement data science methods for a diverse set of development and application needs and relate them concisely and clearly to stakeholders at varying levels of technical sophistication.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with team members on design and execution of large-scale modeling, machine learning and artificial intelligence efforts, including architecture, programming, statistical analysis, and reporting.
  • Use machine learning, data mining and statistical techniques to create new, scalable solutions for business problems
  • Analyze and extract relevant information from data to help automate and optimize key processes
  • Design, develop and evaluate highly innovative models for predictive learning
  • Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementation
  • Research and implement novel machine learning and statistical approaches
  • Assist in developing and programming new products by translating needs identified with clients into analytic frameworks that can be developed into polished applications.
  • Develop new products by translating conceptual blueprints into polished applications.
  • Maintain and enhance large codebases underlying existing key applications.
  • Perform other analyses tasks as required

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Required

 

  • Proficiency in advanced programming, including the ability to produce and maintain reusable and modular codebases.
  • An MS/PhD in CS, Machine Learning, Operational research, Statistics or in a highly quantitative field. PhD strongly preferred.
  • 4+ years of industrial experience in predictive modeling and analysis, predictive software development
  • Strong Problem solving ability
  • Good skills with Java or C++, Perl/Python (or similar scripting language)
  • Experience in using R, Matlab, or any other statistical software
  • Experience in mentoring junior team members, and guiding them on machine learning and data modeling applications
  • Strong communication and data presentation skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of industrial experience in predictive modeling and analysis, predictive software development
  • Experience handling terabyte size datasets
  • Experience working with distributed systems and grid computing
  • Publications or presentation in recognized Machine Learning and Data Mining journals/conferences
  • Professional or academic experience with modern techniques and algorithms in fields such as machine learning, genetic algorithms, data fusion, predictive models, network analysis, system dynamics, or agent-based models.
  • Experience with SQL, NoSQL and NewSQL technologies. Further experience with database design and administration considered a plus.
  • Experience with collaboration tools and version control systems (e.g. Jira/SVN).
  • Experience in code optimization (parallelizing processes, etc.).
  • Experience integrating R and/or Python with each other and C\C++.
  • Large dataset manipulation. Experience in distributed storage and computing a plus.
  • Experience with JavaScript, esp. visualization libraries (e.g. d3.js).
  • Advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D.) preferred.
